Legal framework conditions in the therapy of children and adolescents
As psychotherapists, it is important to us to create transparency and an open atmosphere. Of course, this also applies to your obligations and your rights with regard to psychotherapy.
Before starting psychotherapy, we as psychotherapists are obliged to provide your child and you with comprehensive information about the appropriate psychotherapeutic measures and then plan these together with you.
Both custodial parents must always agree to this as long as your child has not yet reached the age of 14. Before your child’s first appointment, we ask you to bring this confirmation signed by the parent who is not present. We will send you the relevant form by e-mail before your first appointment.
It is also important to find a regulation for the psychotherapy of underage children and adolescents that both satisfies the parents’ desire and right to consent and enables a protected discussion framework between the psychotherapist and the minor. This topic is also discussed before the start of psychotherapy.
